A Marlian Musical Odyssey

Founded in December 2019 by Azeez Adeshina Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, Marlian Records quickly became a beacon for emerging talents in the Afrobeats and street-pop genres.

The label's inception was marked by the signing of four promising artists: Zinoleesky, MohBad, CBlvck, and Fabian Blu. This collective embarked on a mission to infuse the music industry with fresh sounds and narratives.

The Marlian Family

As of 2025, Marlian Records boasts a diverse roster of artists, each bringing their unique flair to the collective:

Celebrating Marlian Hits - 2018!

Naira Marley's discography is a testament to his versatility and knack for creating chart-topping hits.

Tracks like "Issa Goal," which became an anthem during the 2018 FIFA World Cup, and "Soapy," a song that sparked conversations nationwide, showcase his ability to blend catchy rhythms with topical themes. Collaborations with artists such as Olamide, Lil Kesh, and Zlatan further highlight his influence and reach within the industry.

Zinoleesky, another jewel in the Marlian crown, has captivated audiences with his unique voice and relatable lyrics. His debut EP, "Chrome Eccentric," released in 2020, features standout tracks like "Mapariwo" and "Kilofeshe," both of which dominated music charts and airwaves.

His subsequent EP, "Grit and Lust," continued this trajectory, solidifying his place in the hearts of many.

The late MohBad, whose untimely passing in 2023 left a void in the music community, contributed significantly during his tenure with Marlian Records.

His EP "Light" featured collaborations with industry heavyweights like Davido and Lil Kesh, producing hits that continue to resonate with fans. His legacy is a reminder of the raw talent and potential that Marlian Records has nurtured over the years.

In recent times, Marlian Records and its founder, Naira Marley, have been subjects of intense scrutiny and controversy, especially following the tragic passing of Mohbad.

While it's essential to address concerns, it's equally important to remember the primary reason we know and appreciate these artists: their music. This piece aims to shift the focus back to the art, talent, and contributions of Marlian Records to the Nigerian music scene.

Simon Asks: What message do you have for those who view Marlian Records negatively?

Ehmsay: "It's easy to judge from the outside, but we're human. We care deeply about our fans and the community. If there have been misunderstandings, we're not too proud to apologize. Let's move forward and continue to share and enjoy great music together."

Simon Asks: Tell us about your latest track.

Ehmsay: "Interviewer: Speaking of music, tell us about your latest track, "Casamigos."
