Fresh 2025/2026 List of Federal & Private Universities Currently Accepting Low JAMB Cut Off Mark in Nigeria [medicine, nursing, engineering, LLB…]

Hello, IbiFounder.

I’m Simon Zaku, Founder and CEO of IbiFoundry LLC, and today, I have something real, useful, and game-changing to share with you.

Let me tell you a short story first.

In 2016, I wrote JAMB and scored 198.

I had one goal — to study Architecture at the University of Jos.

But guess what?

UNIJOS cut-off for Architecture was above 250 that year.

And of course, my 198 score wasn’t even close.

To make things worse, UNIJOS ended up offering me Statistics instead.

Omo, I am not a fan of Maths and calculations.

Long story short, I didn’t accept the offer.

But thankfully, I later gained admission into a private university — to still study a course I wanted.

That journey showed me two things:

  1. One, you can gain admission into a good university in Nigeria, even with a low JAMB score.

  2. Two, you just need the right information.

And that’s exactly what I’m about to give you today.

So if you’re scared, confused, or discouraged about your JAMB score in 2025, breathe.

Let’s talk.

Let’s get admitted, my fellow IbiFounders.

Let’s begin.

2025: Best Universities Accepting Low JAMB Scores (Below 200)

This is the part most candidates don’t know — there are still several universities accepting candidates with JAMB scores between 140 and 199.

Some of them are public, while others are private.

And yes, they offer real courses like Medicine, Law, Architecture, and Nursing.

Let me show you:

Federal & State Universities Accepting Low JAMB Cut-Off

Many federal and state universities in Nigeria have adjusted their cut-offs recently.

They now accept between 140 and 180 for less competitive courses.

Here’s a list of 2025 updated institutions:

Accepts 150+ for most courses.

For Nursing or Medicine, you need at least 180+.

2. Federal University Lokoja (FULOKOJA)

Competitive courses like Law still require 200+.

3. University of Calabar (UNICAL)

General cut-off starts from 150.

Some departments accept lower depending on quota.

What Courses Can You Study with a Low JAMB Score (Below 200)?

Now that you know the schools, let’s talk about the courses you can get with low JAMB scores.

Yes, Medicine might be tough under 200.

But there are dozens of smart alternatives.

Here are the best options:

  • Education-related courses (accepts from 140+)

  • Sociology, Political Science, Mass Comm (150+)

  • Business Admin, Marketing, Accounting (150–160)

  • Agricultural Sciences (140–160)

  • Religious Studies, Philosophy, History (140–150)

  • Statistics, Mathematics, and Pure Sciences (140–160)

What to Do If Your JAMB Score Is Low in 2025

So your JAMB result is out and it’s below 200?

Relax — don’t panic. That was me years ago I luckily scaled to 189 in JAMB..

Here’s what you should do immediately:

1. Apply for Schools Accepting Your Score

Look at your score range and match it with schools listed above.

Don’t waste time applying to UNILAG or UI with 150.

2. Consider Private Universities

They’re faster, have flexible cut-offs, and give quicker responses.

Some even offer scholarships for high WAEC grades.

3. Try Polytechnics or Colleges of Education

You can still gain admission and later switch through direct entry.

Plus, poly grads can still become Engineers, Lawyers, and Doctors.

4. Use IJMB or JUPEB for Direct Entry

These are powerful options if you don’t want to wait for another JAMB.

Complete the program and move into 200 level directly.

5. Register for Next Year — But Smartly

If you must rewrite, start early and focus on scoring 250+.

Use smart tools like Myschool, Flashlearners, and JambPrep NG.

Don’t Give Up Because of Your Score — Your Dream is Still Possible

Let me tell you something real.

When I didn’t get into UNIJOS, I felt like a failure.

But I later realised that God was redirecting me to something better.

I still studied Architecture — and today, I run IbiFoundry, teaching thousands of students like you.

So listen — that JAMB score doesn’t define your future.

It’s just a step.

A learning curve.

Don’t stop.

Choose your next move wisely.

And go again.

What school are you applying to next?

If You Still Want to Study Your Dream Course This Year…

I recommend you explore private university options right now.
