The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is a Nigerian entrance examination board for tertiary-level institutions.

It conducts the UTME (Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination) every year.

This is the exam you must pass to gain admission into universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education in Nigeria.

Who is a JAMBite?

A JAMBite is simply anyone preparing to write or currently writing the JAMB UTME exam.

JAMB CBT Explained (With My Personal Story)

CBT stands for Computer-Based Test.

It replaced the old pen-and-paper method JAMB used before 2014. Now, all UTME exams are done using computers.

Back in 2016, I was part of the second batch of students to use CBT. It was a scary transition for many of us.

Some of my classmates failed because they couldn't navigate the computer system properly.

Imagine pressing “Submit” by mistake when you’re not done!

Why JAMB is Important in Nigeria

Without JAMB, you cannot gain admission into most Nigerian higher institutions.

Officially, the JAMB registration fee ranges between ₦3,500 and ₦6,200 depending on the year and services included.

But the real cost can be much higher. Transport, cybercafe charges, and printing costs can take the total to ₦10,000 or more.

Also, if your centre is far from your home, you may need to spend extra on transport and accommodation.

JAMB Mock Exam: Why You Should Take It

The JAMB mock exam is optional but highly recommended.

I remember taking the mock exam in 2016 — it was the reason I didn’t panic on the real exam day.

How to Score High in JAMB 2025–2026

• Use the JAMB syllabus

• Practice CBT daily with a timer

• Focus on past questions

• Study the four selected subjects only

• Use tools like myschool.ng, pass.ng, and jamb.gov.ng

Consistency is the game. You don’t need to be a genius — just be focused.

How to Check JAMB Result Online

After the exam, follow these steps to check your score:

1. Visit https://efacility.jamb.gov.ng

2. Log in with your email and password

3. Click on “Check UTME Results”

4. Your score will be displayed or sent via SMS

Alternatively, send UTMERESULT to 55019 on the phone number used during registration.

How to Do JAMB Change of Course/Institution

Didn’t meet your desired course cut-off? No wahala.

You can change your course or school after results are out.

1. Log into your JAMB profile

2. Click “Correction of Data”

3. Select “Change of Institution/Course”

4. Pay the required fee

5. Make your changes and confirm submission

Note: You can only do this a limited number of times. Be strategic.
