Why Are We Here? What I Believe The Purpose Of Life Is As A Christian

My Christian answer is that human life is given by God and is meant for relationship with Him, love of neighbour, faithful work, stewardship and participation in His purposes. That does not mean every career or life decision arrives with a supernatural label.

The Question 'Why Am I Here?' Was One Of The Questions That Shook My Teenage Faith

I was raised Christian, but as I grew older I wanted more than 'because God said so.' I wanted to understand what a human life was actually for.

That question became part of the wider doubt that eventually made me conclude inwardly that there was no God.

My Short Christian Answer Today

I believe I am here because life is God's gift, not an accident I must manufacture meaning for from zero.

For me, purpose begins with relationship with God and then spills into how I love, work, create, serve and treat other people.

Purpose Is Bigger Than Career

A job can express purpose, but a job is not the whole reason a human being exists.

If you lose a job, retire, become sick or change careers, you have not stopped being a person made in God's image.

Made In The Image Of God Changes The Starting Point

Genesis presents humanity as made in God's image and given responsibility within creation.

BibleProject describes this image-bearing vocation in terms of representing God's rule and bringing flourishing into the world.

Love Of God And Love Of Neighbour Keep Purpose From Becoming Self-Obsession

Christian purpose is not simply 'discover my special destiny.' Jesus places love of God and neighbour at the centre of faithful life.

That immediately pushes purpose beyond private achievement.

Work Matters — But Work Is Not God

Useful work can cultivate the world, serve people and develop gifts.

But when work becomes the measure of human worth, purpose collapses into performance.

Purpose Can Include Ordinary Faithfulness

Not every meaningful life becomes famous, wealthy or publicly impressive.

Parenting, honest work, friendship, service, study, craftsmanship, prayer and quiet generosity can all be deeply purposeful.

What About People Who Never Discover One Big Calling?

I do not believe every Christian is promised one hidden career code that must be decoded before life can begin.

You can make wise decisions, develop gifts, accept limits and serve faithfully without waiting for a dramatic sign.

What Suffering Does To The Purpose Question

Pain can make purpose feel cruelly abstract. I do not tell a suffering person that tragedy happened merely to teach them a lesson.

Christian hope lets me believe suffering is not the final meaning of a life even when I cannot explain why a specific pain happened.

Can Money Be Part Of Purpose?

Money can support family, generosity, enterprise and useful work, but wealth is a tool rather than a complete definition of purpose.

A person can be rich and purposeless, or materially poor and profoundly faithful.

Why Soli Deo Gloria Matters Here

Soli Deo Gloria means glory to God alone. For me it protects purpose from becoming a monument to my own ego.

I want IBIFOUNDRY to pursue excellence while remembering that success itself is not the final object of worship.

How I Would Help A Young Nigerian Start Finding Direction

Start with responsibilities already in front of you: character, study, skill, family obligations, service and honest work.

Then examine your gifts, opportunities, convictions and the needs around you instead of waiting passively for a mysterious voice.

A Simple Purpose Test I Use

Does this path help me become more truthful, loving, responsible and useful? Does it fit my real gifts and duties? Can I pursue it without violating conscience?

Those questions will not answer everything, but they remove a lot of noise.
